Ban reason: Message contains too many characters: Due to previous bans and warnings, this ban is indefinite." This ban will only be removed via appeal.
Length of ban: Indefinite
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh

Events leading to the ban

It was around mid-game and I was the captain of the station. No major events were going on and the station was operating smoothly. A chaplain requests my presence at the chapel in which they hand me a letter stating that the chapel demanded a sacrifice. This sacrifice required a young male crewmember to be killed. I knew that this wasn’t actually imperative for the station, so I went over radio to ask for a volunteer, not forcing anybody to commit themselves to the chapel. A man volunteers in exchange for their removal from the sec brig. They were completely understanding of the results and that they would die 100% willing and without force. The volunteer, however, decided to stop the execution before it could occur. I, wanting to commence the execution, made the decision to sacrifice myself because we had already gathered such a large crowd. I handed over all of my items (nuke disk, IDs, etc) to a security officer and proceeded to die.

As for the other issue in regards to AA, here is the story. Centcomm had made the decision to import an infinite amount of HOPs that round into the station (no cap on HOP limit). The HOP amount quickly climbed to 6+ HOPs all crammed into 1 office. Individual passengers were being granted AA by the HOPs from what I could tell and, when a passenger and monkey approached me for AA, I believed them enough to grant it. I do not recall if I actually gave them the access, but the ban clearly indicates that they got it. Furthermore, (which I did not have any clue of until receiving the ban), the passenger and pun apparently decided to use up cargo’s funds with the AA.

Reason the ban should be removed

In regards to the AA issue, I do not believe I broke a rule? If I did, I am very sorry for this. However, Captains grant AA to passengers all the time. I understand that the rules state that circumstances must call for AA in the instance of command for some of the rules, but I don’t see a rule on AA being an issue with passengers. Again, I am sorry if this is wrong, but I do not believe that the actions of the passenger and pun pun should reflect on me.

However, for the issue of abandoning my role as captain, I completely understand. I did not intend to actually abandon this role initially, but unfortunate irl circumstances forced me to get off for a period of time following my sacrifice. This was simply an issue of bad-timing for me and not something I would commit under other conditions. I am sorry for abandoning this role.

I understand my ban, however, I do not think being indefinitely banned is necessary. My past actions that have given me a record do look bad, but I have genuinely tried to improve and not break rules since. If anything, I would like to request that I am role banned from captain rather than my permaban. Either way, I am very sorry for breaking the rules that I have.

Yeah, don’t just hand out AA like that. As command, your role is to work in the station’s best interests. It’s not hard to guess that giving access to the station’s most vulnerable sectors can and will result in abuse, and other captains doing it on a whim should face similar scrutiny. That said, the context of the other HoPs being irresponsible does mitigate the situation somewhat.

The gameban is unusual given the circumstances, to the point that I suspect it was meant to be an indefinite command roleban. I’m going to knock this down to a captain-specific roleban for 7 days total; that’s three more days.
