The benefit of pAI’s is having a second set of eyes, someone to talk to, and someone who help navigate and learn.
For new players they’re a great help but often heads of department keep one on them too.
I think it’d be good if pAI’s and syndicate pAI’s could inspect health and items in the shift click inspect menu. CMO’s or medical staff would like it, because you’d have someone there able to keep track of patients.
Security would like it because you could have someone inspect for guns or anything else suspicious.
As a ghost role it feels very reactive, you’re not even allowed to move by yourself.
The fact they have to communicate it, and be listened to, would solve any issues with game balance in my opinion.
Maybe give them increased scanning range too to account for them not having you know… legs.
By inspecting items and health do you mean like the standard shift+click ability humanoids have in order to view descriptions, or do you possibly mean in the sense of a health analyzer or unique inventory scanner?
I agree PAI (and silicon in general for that matter) needs more to do and more utility, but if you’re meaning the latter that could be extremely overpowered in the hands of security and antags.
I would say a pair upgrade that made it so they have a low-range inspection would be cool, but yeah antag pai blah blah blah.
Its not really the same thing but pai health scanner upgrade? Lets the user scan someone with it but the ui only pops up for the pai so it has to read it out. Could be a little annoying but it would mimic something you can only get from the cmo or a med pda.
I like this idea, but I would give the pAI agency on the scanning when attached to the user’s PDA slot, otherwise you’re just a really inconvenient health analyser that delays things instead of speeding them along in critical moments. It should also give the pAI the med-HUD that displays HP.
Yes, standard shift+click inspect. Shows what people are wearing, and “this person has severe 3rd degree burns”.
nothing that a person couldn’t do by themselves, but offloading some of the mental load to someone else. I feel like that’s the point of pAi’s right? Like a second pair of hands metaphorically.
Not a health analyser or med-tek thing.
I would rather they can just view items and check health via the “inspect health” option.
Maybe add an option to be CONNECTED to the user’s PDA, using a network linker, so when they scan it pops up as a ui for the pAI too, but the MAIN thing I want is inspection functionality that normal players have.

Yeah that was a tangent idea

That seems like it would just be too Inconvenient to be useful
