Limit the ease of emaging borgs even more, please.

I think the new change of borgs not being able to open themselves is really good. As a regular borg player, I’m glad people wont just yell “Law 2” at me to open up my circuits.

However, it doesn’t stop a sci syndicate from just making a bunch of cyborgs to emag and be their personal “kill rd and the rest of sci” crew.

When I’m the borg in this situation, I just get forced into being a shitty antag who just has to wack people with my welding tool until I go down and thats all I get to play of borg. It feels like borgs get the raw end of the deal by having to play disposable antag because a syndie sci feels like genocide.

These are couple of suggestions I have.
-Remove the added law that makes it so emaged borgs can just lie about their laws
-Give the crew some form of reverting emaged borgs
-Nerf the emag so that you cant just build an army and have to use only one borg sparingly

As someone who likes to dark factory, i think nerfing further would be a bit extreme. Being able to do departmental specific shit is sorta the fun of being a syndicate. Like, engie syndicate can sabotage or steal comms and has access to insuls. Lawyer syndicate can go directly in sec and not be as suspicious around armory or sec officers.

I do get that its annoying if someone builds a genocide army. I think whatever syndie borgs do, their owners should be responsible for, including murder boning people for no reason. As a syndicate i stick to my objectives and if i emag borgs and dark factory, I primairly use them for protection.

Dont forget, once you pull the borgs brain out, they are no longer emaged, so you can actually catch the identity of a syndicate. Its not always a great strat to emag borgs.

Yeah. I guess also in the round that really ticked me off about it, sec was not doing an amazing job. Even when dragging your body, they did nothing to stop the borg despite us yelling at them constantly to get rid of the borg. And then they listened to me to gib you despite space law.

But I do hold that I really don’t like getting emaged as a borg and every time its happened to me, the sci syndie just gets themselves and all the borgs killed immediately. Maybe if there were more tools to make just one borg stronger instead of an army of pawns. Because unlike other department’s tools, thats a player that gets forced into antag and is going from a helpful asset for the whole station to just one guy’s personal shield. For me at least, that is not enjoyable.

Isn’t that the logic behind the syndicate weapons module?
granted its a bit of a rough module to use, but it exists

I’ve never ran into a syndie who ever bought it over just using the sci resources to make more borgs and spend tc on other things.

I think the main issue is that the borg weapon module is an incredibly niche use of TC (2 relatively weak weapons on someone other than yourself) while the emag is incredibly versatile in its usage, not to mention you can have infinite tool borgs in your horde compared to 1 or 2 with the modules. I think, if you want to discourage emagging borgs (I don’t personally agree with this stance), the best option would be to make an emagged borg consume the emag, but gain the weapon module for free.

I want to clarify that I don’t like the borg army strat in particular. One souped up antag borg I think is way more enjoyable than several borgs that are just there to beat people with welders and will most likely get downed with no hope of being fixed. Even a martyr borg would be more fun imo

I can understand your sentiment, but weakening an emagged borg encourages the opposite approach entirely, because if your 16 TC soldier gets detected/reprogrammed, you’ve effectively wasted your TC on something that can easily be traced back to you, thus encouraging you to either mass produce welder borgs and hope you make enough before you get found out, or simply not emag borgs at all, rendering that mechanic completely useless. I think the opposite approach of buffing the syndicate modules or reducing their costs would be a smarter approach, because as it stands an equipped emagged borg takes up half your TC and is fairly easy to completely disable. As an additional idea, maybe emagging the exosuit fabricator could unlock some basic subterfuge modules to stick in borgs. Things like a cobra or viper module, a ziptie dispenser module, or even an emp module, that way even with just an emag you can get useful modules for your borg minion instead of just having them welderbomb people.
