Ban reason: 2.9 Violation. Killing multiple non targets not related to objectives. Even if done to prevent discovery.
Length of ban: Indefinite
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh
Events leading to the ban
First off, this is what I remember, if some things are inaccurate, it is because I do not have the time to go through an entire replay.
So, this all started off with me rolling syndicate. A greytide virus opened security, so I ran in. The HoS arrested me and put me in a cell. Through some fumbling of uncuffing me, he left me with the cuffs and then he pulled out his baton. Seeing this opportunity, I cuffed hos and shot him so he wouldn’t yell on the radio and I looted him. AI called sec, which means I had to gun them down to flee. I then inserted a game master board into the AI, so that it wouldn’t go after me as much. When I was eventually permad, I used the AI to escape security. Later on, with the help of the AI, I stole a drozd and ammo from security. I was gunned down and revived at med. As I wasn’t cuffed yet, I took the chance and gunned down the officer that was trying to revive me, hitting some stray bullets on the doctors (I think only the seccie died though). From then on, as far as I am concerned, all I did was shoot people who were armed or who went after me (I was attacked by a dude in maints, while I was almost crit, which means I shot him).
Reason the ban should be removed
I do not understand how this violates rule 2.9. As far as I am concerned, syndicates are allowed to protect themselves. The only non security people I killed were all guilty in some way. I killed a passenger that punched me in maints, which I found pretty threatening, considering I was about 2 crowbar hits from dropping dead. I also killed an armed CMO that I encountered in the hallway, with the goal of taking their gun and their ammo. However as soon as I killed them, another guy arrived and took their gun. Not wanting to kill any innocent people, I flushed myself away. Another guy I killed was an atmosian. I told him at gunpoint to give me his insuls, which seemed like a thing he’d comply with. To my surprise however, he decided to go against my L6, which made me gun him down (Which is in my opinion fully reasonable. I gave him a chance to comply). The only other point where I shot “Innocent” people (Still security members) was when I tried to steal ammo from the armory. I was running low on ammo and considering that the whole station was after me, I thought I should use this ammo to get new ammo. I would’ve stolen it silently, but it was not possible, which means I gunned down the armed sec members. All other people I killed were direct dangers to me, and in my opinion it is fully reasonable to expect armed sec members that you meet in the halls / maints to shoot you. If this is part of the ban, I can also go in on why I killed the captain. I saw him attacking a fellow syndicate, which means I was trying to defend that syndie. After gunning cap down however, I heard the holoparasite die, which is why I retreated, as it was seemingly already too late.
Another thing is (Maybe this is just a display error, in this case I am sorry if I misunderstood it) that the banning admin said that he is banning me for 3 days. Looking at the screen however, it says that I am banned indefinetely, and the ban reason says nothing about it being 3 days. If this is true, that adds a lot to this ban being way too harsh.
So to sum it up, throughout the entire round I’ve always tried to keep innocent casualties as low as possible. I also always made sure that the people were recoverable. The atmos tech I killed for example was dragged by me to a public area so that people could recover him. I also did not shoot everyone I encountered on sight, I even talked to some people. If what I did was against the rules, then what is the alternative. Is the alternative to hide in maintenance for 60 minutes until evac arrives, and to let security shoot me if they find me? That seems pretty boring to me.
I’ve enjoyed playing on wizden a lot, and I’ve tried my best to stick to the rules. I know I broke them a lot in the past, however I’ve gone a long time without any major warnings or bans. I try my best to keep the game fun / fair for others, and I dont think I did anything different from that in this round.
