This is an idea I came up with because of the controversy regarding suit storage.
Basically, a lot of people are annoyed that the suit storage slot has been kinda taken away in a lot of cases. This is kinda matching it to be like SS13, where the same thing held true: you can’t just strap a big O2 tank into suit storage unless you’re wearing a hardsuit.
The obvious exchange here is that you’re supposed to trade your backpack slot instead if you don’t have an appropriate piece of suit-storage armor. but the thing is… backpacks are just too necessary. Seriously giving your backpack second priority just isn’t an option half the time.
Examples of useful prior-suit-storage items being spears, guns, big O2 tanks.
What if you could have your cake and eat half of it too?
Introducing messenger bags. These bags are much smaller than a backpack, but with a twist: they give you an extra suit storage slot
This gives you the following unique tradeoff as a player:
- take a (regular-sized) backpack or (big) duffel
- take a small messenger bag and a gun/spear/O2 tank on your back
Current working ideaguysing is that these bags would have 2 2x2 spaces and one 3x3 space, detached similar to satchels. This would give a messenger bag more effective storage than a satchel if you’re storing a 4x4 gun in the extra slot. Maybe reducing the side pockets to 2x1 would be appropriate, I’m not 100% sure on the sizing yet.
