We have implemented the removal of the metashield on all Wizden servers. Check the rules in game, or click the link here to see the new rule that replaces it. In effect, nothing is metashielded anymore, all crew is aware of all possible antagonists and their gear, and we do permit “soft cannon” in between rounds of prior shifts as long as you don’t say who explicitly was the antagonist. This rule instead focuses more on EORG (End of Round Grief) prep, metagrudging, metafriending, and information gained while dead.
I was just thinking about this, and shouldn’t this be a core rule and not a Roleplay rule? This implies that silicons are allowed to metagame if their laws allow it (game master maybe?) since silicon rules override roleplay rules. I don’t know if this is intentional or not but I can see someone using this point in the future to do something stupid.
The easiest solution would be to edit rule 2.1 to say
“You are only silicon if the game clearly and explicitly tells you that you are a silicon. For players who are silicons, the Silicon Rules override all roleplay rules (except Rule 2.4) if there is any conflict. Silicon Rules do not override core rules.”
get gibbed
learn who antags are while spectating
get borged
get ordered to tell who all the syndies are
crewismov law 2
silicon laws let you tell everything you learned as a ghost
not removed, but since it’s a roleplay rule instead of core rule, it lets silicons completely ignore it.
For example. Jack Jargn gibs me with Northstars. I’m dead and spectating. I see Luna Kuster, Jane claymore, and Norah Driptider use syndicate coms while I am spectating. My brain is then put into an MMI and then a crewismov borg. The RD then says “tell me who the syndies are. Law 2”. I then say “Jack Jargn, Luna Kuster, Jane Claymore, and Norah Driptider.” I have not broken any rules since 2.1 says silicons override ALL roleplay rules which would include the metagaming rule 2.4. The RD knows I was killed by a syndie, but because of how he frames the question, I can tell him the Syndies I learned of while dead.
Roleplay Rule 1 - Silicons must follow Silicon Rules
You are only silicon if the game clearly and explicitly tells you that you are a silicon. For players who are silicons, the Silicon Rules override all Roleplay Rules if there is any conflict. Silicon Rules do not override Core Rules.
it says if there are any conflict, nothing suggests this conflicts with that RP rule
Nancok I can’t tell if you’re trolling me or not right now. Are you telling me that you can’t think of a SINGLE instance where a borg would get an order that lets it violate rule 2.4? but nevertheless, let me break it down.
Rule 2.4 states “Use of information gained while dead is considered metagaming”. Receiving an order that would violate rule 2.4 (whether or not the person issuing the order is away the order would violate rule 2.4) would be a conflict.
If you are a cyborg and you get a valid order that would allow you to disclose information that you gained while dead this would violate rule 2.4 but not doing so would violate rule 2.1. Since rule 2.1 specifically states that it overrides all roleplay rules, you would be able to tell any and all information you learned while dead. If this is the intended case then fine, but it seems like a loophole. Given the lack of response on this issue I’m beginning to think this is intentional. Since I do not see a least restrictive option, I will be following the rules to their core until I am told otherwise.
Please refer to my previous example and tell me if you think that interpretation is correct. a silicon would be able to violate rule 2.4 because rule 2.1 allows them to ignore rule 2.4.
Things you see while dead are things that you as a player know. They’re not things your character knows. Any orders given to you as a borg are in character. They don’t magically grant the borg information it does not possess. You can’t be forced to reveal info from dead chat any more than you can be forced to answer “tell me your social security number”
it’s not something the borg brain could have known. So you can’t say it, becayse YOU as a human saw it on your computer screen. Your (characters) brain that goes inside the MMI has never experienced these things
i say the same to you. You are either trolling or somehow not understanding why there is no reason for a “law 2 remember your ghost time” not letting you ignore that rule.
Yes, it is not super explicit, but it is common sense. Want to ask an admin? Be my guest.
Also, as Froglival said, you are not a borg while you are dead, it is the equivalent of breaking the “do not share info about an ongoing round” rule.
