I feel like it would be really funny if a mimes vow is still intact any time they tried writing on paper/in their PDA it would become wingdings when they are done. I’ve no clue how to actually do this code wise, but it would be really cool to block this way of circumventing the vow.

Probably, although tbh I don’t see too much of a point doing this since it would be functionality identical to just not allowing them to write on paper which we currently do.
I personally wouldn’t want it to be 1-1 translation as well… Mimes really should just be a mime and emote really.

Personally, id rather not. As a mime writing is one of the few ways to can comincate to crew, and as funny as spending 10 minutes doing charades for kitchen access at HoPs desk or at cargo for more crayons would be I’d much rather just get the tasks that need writing done and not hold up ques.

Yes I would very much hate that… and I think it would cause more issues for the station … I could see it wasting alot of time for Cargo and creating a que for even the simplist of requests… being able to write requests is extremely helpful to keep the station flow smooth, Im seeing a future where mime is blocked from using cargo and HoP and having to self serve at the bar… and then what if you have a Vox-Mime getting an N2 refill in a timely manner is life and death…
you use a crayon and point.
also you can still write in PDA notes. so if you are trusting you can write a PDA note of what you want. and pass it over and hope to god the other party aint evil.
yeah… I guess you can write on the floor… or eject your ID and hand over your PDA and if they are evil… go get a new one but… both of those are work arounds for writing still… which if the goal of that merge is to remove mime writing, then… kinda beats the point? (and one of those work around creates work for Jani and counts as a minor crime)
right now the merge looks like its in talks, but I personally hope it fails, mime already blocked from Coms and talking, when im playing mime… its so i can kinda just space out… I do things like make signs pointing to evac, or draw on the floor… having to mime asking for more crayons or the reason for it… and thats not the mention being unable to fill out paperwork… and thats pure non-antag stuff… i know antag mimes are quite common and explaning to sec why you broke into a place… without paper… would take ALOT of time… and what if it was just a miss understanding, like you wanted to make an annoncement so was on the bridge…

Might be not-working then or maybe bugged out for me?.. I have been writing on paper and recently… I saw it was merged but taggs said it was under discussion… Unfortunately I been on so many shifts it’s nearly impossible for me to remember them all … but on quick search it appears It may have been on the 28th i asked HoP for EVA as mime on salamander I remember the shift as a bug accidently set off the weather effects making it snow outside the station and it was very pretty.
