Some ghost roles (like vent critters) should be classified as “Minor” ghost roles and only Yellow SSD you. so that you are revived it will send you a OOC message and you can return to your old body instead of having to wait 30 minutes for sci to gather the materials to borg you. or for chem to get everything together.
I like this idea, but it seems like it would be difficult to code.
I kinda like this, it makes ghost roles like mice or other minor pests (spiders, slimes, snakes) a kind of waiting mini-game for folks to part-take in.
idk how it is currently stored. but why not make it so it just doesn’t override the target body for Return to body when you get picked for the ghost role.

I’m planning to formalize this in my Ghost Sinks doc with certain uninteresting-on-their-own roles being relegated to Ghost Holders - if your body is revived while you’re in a Ghost Holder role, you get a notification and your original body is left commatose until you repossess it.
There’s also some stuff I need to playtest, like if you should be able to see the actual ghost role menu while in a Ghost Holder (IE whether or not that’ll bolster antag-rollers too much) as well.
The current shortlist is vent critters, sentient vendors, hydroponics trays, and repair drones if those get re-implemented, but other stuff would be included as Ghost Holders including stuff like Pursuers.
not sure if relevent to what your doing but i’d love a 1% chance for hostile mobs of this kind being friendly. same way we have smile slime and Secs pet spider having a low chance of crew-mov Spider or Slime or Snake could be kinda neat and give varity to gameplay.

Because i can assure you many would just take a ghost role to get revenge or some other shittery.
The question is if staff can deal with the load that will bring.
Metagruding and using ghost knowellege and other life knowellege is already aganist the rules. people can do this already only difference is they can return to there old body after being revied.
The main difference is that, as of now. You have to weight the risks.
If you are aiming to get back to what you where doing, you currently are forced to wait to get revived (IF you get revived).
With non-commital ghost roles that stop beings a factor, there is 0 risk to just taking a ghost role and continuing to mess with someone.
Staff has to keep track of who took that ghost role that is now harrassing whoever wronged you. If they are even clearly harrassing, or if they could even tell they beelined it to them using meta knowledge.

well the non-commital roles are mice, slimes, spiders, the lesser ghost roles that are meant to exist and die fairly quickly and im assuming when you return to your body those slots would open again.
Yea, I hadn’t considered admin workload for ghost sinks before, you’re right.
I do like this idea for the benefits to the people who would use it honestly, but I can also foresee a slew of mice leading crew to find their hidden corpse that wouldn’t have been found otherwise.
could do it like we do with other stuff… gate it with a cvar and choose the default.
