In-game Username: mon
Discord username: monxwx
Characters you play: Tun-Ah, Aurora Starshift, Blind Bob
On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 5-20+
Days you are available to admin on: All days of the week
How old are you? 22
Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? No I do not, I’ve only played SS14 and I’ve only played on Wizden Lizard
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I do not have any previous SS admin experience, however I did admin in SCP: Secret Laboratory around 2018 to 2020 for an Official Associated server being Canadian West. Unfortunately there is no way to provide proof of this since the forums were nuked alongside the associated community dying over time and also the discord server being deleted as time past.
Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? Yes, I was banned last year from Wizden Lizard in February for metagaming + self-antag spree.
What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? My primary interest I have is ensuring the round is uninterrupted. I want the players present in a round to feel immersed and to have fun while not having to worry about bad actors. Alongside this I am very interested in swiftly responding to ahelps to help and or guide players and also to take action against them, assuming there is a player ahelp report. I am very interested in acting as a god (responding to prayers, centcomm mails, redphone etc.) I would also be very interested in viewing replays and logs.
What are you least interested in doing as an admin? I am least interested in reviewing ban appeals through the forums at this current moment. Unless I am involved with the appealer’s ban.
Detail Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
I think game admins serve a fair and fun role on wizden servers as well as being role models in the community.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
I would like to become an administrator because of recent events regarding the admin team alongside my interest in the game being revived since I last played last year. I want players to experience the hundreds of hours of uninterrupted fun I had back when I was playing the game for the first times.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
I feel the current roleplay status is very bare-minimum and beginner friendly. Lizard is a LRP environment after all. I do feel however that it is adequate and good in its own sense.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
I believe admins interacting with the community in in-game and out-of-game chats have a big positive impact. Another thing that I believe has a big positive impact is bringing non-destructive or non-intrusive fun things into the round, such as answering prayers etc.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
I have only had a negative experience in game with other players, not admins. Specifically raiders. I would respond to raider pings and ahelps to prevent other players from experiencing this.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
I have had an uncountable amount of good experiences with the game and admins. Too many that I wouldn’t know what to list in this response.
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
Assuming I was a lone admin on the server at the time, I would probably acknowledge their messages and reply with an “okay” and place a whoopee cushion in front of a player’s path, making them fart abruptly. I would never want to “do something funny” without making a poll during the round for players to vote on if they would like to experience something funny and ESPECIALLY if I was the only admin on at the time. I would never like to do an event etc. without there being at least two game admins on the server at the same time. I would also never like to “do something funny” before the game-mode is settled (before antags are chosen) and I would also never like to “do something funny” if it was a nukie round.
Assuming there are two admins online, one being myself, I would like to contact them to see if they would be open to a “do something funny” thing. Afterwards if the admin declines then I would cease and continue to observe the round as usual. However if the admin was on-board then I would then like to ask the players by using an admin poll with ideally Yes, No, Unsure as responses and letting the results determine if “do something funny” would come to existence.
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
The first thing I would do in this scenario I believe is to take control of the cargo shuttle and assuming they are off the station, dock them to the cargo shuttle bay to allow the HoS and HoP to take action against the Captain. My next step would to be to bwoink the captain to ask them why they’re evading/hiding hard enough from a clown that they are being mutiny’d/couped by command. The Captain would be fully capable to arrest the clown or tell security to arrest them for theft so I would like to hear the Captain’s response. Assuming the Captain is arrested without anyone being harmed or killed I would let command and crew figure things out on their own but if the captain was choosing to be problematic I would intervene. Based on the severity of whatever occurred with the Captain during the round I would either let them off with a warning and clarification or a short role-ban assuming they were unfit for their position. The clown would receive a warning to not act as an antagonist assuming they were trying their hardest to not return the captain’s saber.
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
The first thing I would do is to issue them a temporary ban, since it would be the safest option given the context, to follow infraction escalations based off of offenses. Afterwards myself and the other admins involved with this player and their insights could discuss amongst ourselves and with the rest of the admin team what the outcome should be with this player. In this situation I would trust my instinct and the knowledge I have, so they would receive a temporary ban. While the player is temporarily banned I could wait for a response from other admins and a headmin to see if their punishment is correct. I would also have wanted to issue them a temporary ban because it would be unfair to permanently ban them without proper knowledge of the situation.
