Nithcraal

In-game Username: Nithcraal
Discord username: Nithcraal
Characters you play: Neeth Kraal, Hides-From-Sun

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 60+

Days you are available to admin on: All of them. 7 days a week.

How old are you? 35.

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? Yes, i played SS13 for a while before SeethTzneetch did his review and had been as active as i can on SS14 after that. I may have some opinions but my mindset is to make the admin staff as readily available to whoever needs it, whenever they need it.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? 20+ years in a Roleplay scene, i’m a current Admin/Moderator in another long lasting RP scene in Second Life that i am happy to divulge if you require. I know the role, i know the work, i know that i need to accessible to the community if they needs to be.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? Never. I’ve also never been banned from other RP communities outside of SS13/14 as i take steps to ensure i communicate with people as people, not as problems or issues.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? Rule Breaks, Arguments, Admemes, anything really, i’ve messed with my own private server for a bit to learn about the game so i know the commands. I also have 5+ years experience dealing with people who may be upset, angry or frustrated so i know how to calm someone down to have a conversation with them.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Nothing. i have no qualms banning, warning or confronting players who have broke rules, made issues or anything like that.

Detail Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

To enforce Rules. At the end of the day an Admins role is to make sure the rules are followed on top of making sure that people within the servers are respectful and friendly towards each other. Also being able to split IC and OOC. Being able to tell when something is an OOC Issue over and IC issue is a strong suit of mine.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

I like to keep things running, i like to be able to push things forward and deal with issues in a quick and concise manner. In an active RP Scenario like SS14, sometimes there needs to be quick resolutions to active problems within a scene or OOCly. Thats what i wish to fufill.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

On Salamander it’s good, people RP and all that but there is still issues, I’ve seen Rev’s round-stall after killing Command, Nukies bumble around and not head for Nuke. i’ve seen a bunch of stuff and i’m sure i’ll see more that requires an Admin attention.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Communication is Key, no matter what scene you RP in. if the Admins/Moderators can not talk to their playerbase then that is a big issue, i am willing to be a face for moderators and actively talk to the community. I am willing to be active within the servers and solve issues that arise whenever they do. I hold no grudge or ill will to people who throw insults towards staff as i know the job is one that stretches you thin but i’m also willing to be reachable no matter the time (outside of when i need to sleep or eat)

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

A few but to list them feels like i’m pointing fingers. I’ve heard of people banned because of an admin who’s friends have been “victim” to things that make no sense. I’ve witnessed dead chat be full of people who feel they were wronged. There are a few situations that i’ve witnessed and already dealt with, with that mindset in mind.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Many. Very Many. Many people are friendly, there are many who are nice, kind and help you out but there is just as many who aren’t. i can’t give you a solid example because of how varied my experiences have been but outside of personal bias there has been a large amount of good experiences i’ve had in this game, but SS13 and SS14

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

I would refuse. my job is not to “Do something funny” it’s to take care of situations that could ruin the fun for many people on the station. Though, if there as enough of a crowd to warrant a situation say like ERT during Zombies or something like that i may think about it. Admemes are not to be abused or used constantly, they are a once in a hundred shifts sort of deal. I might think about doing something fun for those in the server if they’ve went a few hundred rounds without it but if it’s just a few people asking me to do something “funny” 99% of the time i’d say no.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Given it is LRP i’d be a bit more lenient on the Clown, while he is a non-antag if he has sided with the HoS and HoP, they have made an IC choice to follow that. If he is attacking and gibbing those who are not involved, then i would force him to drop the saber or even stop them entirely as they are Self-Antaging which is against the rules no matter what. If they follow the HoS and HoP and they mutiny without major crew harm (beyond the scope of their objectives) or loss and things go their way, thats a different story. Sometimes “funny” or “Weird” situations need to be allowed to resolve on their own. It’s only when those involved take it too far should i step in to remind them of certain things or even flat out stop them if it’s beyond the scope of what they should be doing.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

I would request all logs, info and other things needed to make a decision. Just because someone says “They need to be banned” doesn’t make a case. I would look over any relevant information given to me and make my own decision based on that, without any others swaying my decision. it is my decision on what I THINK the punishment shall be and i am willing to talk to the other Mins about it, be them trial or otherwise to find a suitable punishment for the offender based on the information given.

There are too many cases of people being banned because one staff says “They need to banned” and thats not me talking about SS14, this is in general in an RP scene sense. if they’re the only person saying so, then no, there are too many variables to make a snap decision like that off the words of one other person. I would want to review all information given to me and give my own judgement based purely on my own thoughts on the whole scenario.
