I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh
Events leading to the ban
It was a normal shift, I was chem and I had finished my job early. I walked up to cap sometime in that round and asked for some cap clothes just for the fit purely, no bad intentions whatsoever. Unsurprisingly, I get my request denied, it’s fine.
I really wanted the cap drip so I decided to hack open 3 bridge doors, two front airlocks and the captains room door. The last door I had interacted with was the bedroom door, at first I had hacked it open but then the CE had found me and started trying to either block me in with his RCD or fix the door closing me into either room so I had panicked and punched him once or twice. Knowing that I wasn’t an antag, I was being very careful on the sort of damage i was dealing here. The hits made the CE run away and grab the fire axe from the bridge, which I had only found out when he came back to kill me. Basically, earlier when we had our scuffle, I had smacked his RCD out of his hands and grabbed it, ran away, and came back to finish the door hacking job. I get to the final door but decided to RCD remove it which keep in mind was the bedroom door, it wasn’t a front main access door but tucked away in the captains quarters. ( I sorta knew this part of it was wrong and I regretted it after i destroyed the door so that is 100% my mistake ). This is where the CE comes in with the fire axe and starts killing me with it. In return i hit him a couple times with my wrench, 3 at most if I recall correctly. I realized that I don’t want to hurt this guy so instead of hitting him with my wrench, I smack the fire axe out of his hands and pick it up. I was being very careful and made sure not to hit him with it. I just pulled it out and scared him off with it. He ran and then i tried to get into the captains drawer but it was locked behind another secure windoor so I decided to just give up. Captain and a sec walks in to arrest and kill me which is understandable because I broke space law etc etc etc.
Reason the ban should be removed
I feel that what I did wasn’t really self-antagging. I was just breaking space law to steal the captains cloak, (which I was never actually successful at doing btw). I think yes hitting the CE a few times was wrong but it was mostly self defense, the first hit being me panicking that he was gonna block me in/out. I think the WORST thing I have done here was RCD remove the bedroom door but honestly the door was so tucked away i didn’t think too much of it at the time until it was already removed. And the reason i used the RCD instead of also hacking the door open like the others was because after the CE scuffle i was scared he was gonna come in and attack/stop me so I figured RCD would be faster, ( who knows if that was actually faster or not I’m not sure ).
I definitely am somewhat in the wrong here but I just think it’s kinda a harsh punishment. Yeah its only 12 hours but maybe a warning could’ve went a long way here? Especially considering my past offenses were just minor warnings not even related to self antag. I really wanted some clarification to what I did in those 3 minutes that like tipped it from breaking space law to being self-antag because I am curious. I am no stranger to hacking into places to get what I want as long as its REASONABLE and not harming people directly so I am genuinely curious.
