This has been in my mind for a while? Let’s say I caught a syndie then they told me they got th e item from their uplink or just took their items since he is going perma and Saw their uplink is open. Do all security officers now gained “knowledge” of all syndicate items and can make through searches from that point in time? Or do we have to pretend not to know still?
Seeing an open uplink can allow security to gain IC knowledge of uplink items and share it with the rest of security or command, but it doesn’t allow them to bypass the search requirements for abnormally thorough searches.
For example, you cannot perform searches which check for stealth items without some reason to believe the stealth item may be in use by the person. IC knowledge of noslips and either confirmation that someone is a syndicate or strong suspicion of it would allow you to check if their shoes were noslips, but you wouldn’t be able to check if everyone you searched was using noslips.

Requesting a bit deeper of a question.
Say the above events happen and I, secoff, know of syndicate items and that a PDA can be used as a uplink.
Can I, for that shift only, add “check pda for applications” into searches for those suspected of being a syndicate?
And what constitutes enough suspicision to 100% escalate to being allowed to search someoned PDA other than “I see a syndicate item on their person.”

Please create another thread if you want a more official answer, but yes, if you reasonably suspect someone of being a syndicate and already have current round IC knowledge of uplinks, you would be able to try to check their PDA for an uplink. Other than finding someone with a syndicate item, the things that would allow you to suspect someone of being a syndicate are highly situational. If you repeatedly find someone to be around crime scenes, it may be reasonable to suspect them of being a syndicate
