Queue System

It’d be nice to put in a queue system for the game. It’ll help to direct traffic towards low-capacity servers with high demand. That, or increase capacity on lizard/ add another LRP official server.

I dont see how this would direct traffic more than the current system? Honestly a queue would just make trying to latejoin a full server worse imo, and could make it hard to join at roundend if people from the queue (who may be afking) fill up the slots of those who leave

I do like the idea, requesting join and it redirects you to the first open slot on any of the 3 wizden servers the moment a slot opens on any of them sounds a nice quaility of life tool.

  1. When you code it.
  2. This will probably just end up with more slots being filled with AFK players who leave queue up.
  3. We don’t really want to add another server since we barely have enough coverage for the 4 we have now.

I do feel like relying on official servers is kinda not in the spirit of funnyspessgame.
Making more wizden servers or making features that would privilege them is just gonna result in more of the playerbase being just on wizden, while the health of the greater project relies on other servers being able to grow and sustain themselves.

That would need something like captha to make sure guy in que is not afk.

Which current thing actually do. Since you need to press retry every 30 seconds

Our discord bot has a responce to the queue questions:

The point of the player cap is to ease administration and to encourage people to play on multiple servers instead of waiting for the next round to start when they end up dead. A queue defeats the latter point, causing players to sit in a lobby doing nothing for no real reason, as our server is otherwise perfectly capable of 200

We would not be opposed to seeing this feature coded. But it will most likely not be enabled on official servers.

So, I’ve read the comments, and yeah. Good points. Would be against the community-made psychosis that made SS13 fun by promoting server loyalty like this.
