Characters you play: Garry Hammerson

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: ~14

Days you are available to admin on: Everyday, especially on friday, saturday and sunday.

How old are you? 18

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? I have played frontier station for about 320 hours now, I am also active on RMC14 which I started playing a few days ago. My ss13 gametime is minimal, but I believe that I have over 30 hours on tg station.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I do not have any ss14 admin experience. I have been an admin for a startup server on FiveM, I have no way to prove this since the server is deleted.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? I remember being rolebanned a long time ago back when I started playing ss14(I was banned from being a chemist for a day), the reason why I was rolebanned I understand completely, preparing for EORG by making phlog foam.
I have also been banned a long time ago for over-escalation on frontier station:“Killed at least 7 people 2 crew over getting shot once in a vault raid, did not attempt to stop or to make surreder the other players, 3 day ban.”

This was back when I was not completely familiar with the indifferent ruleset that frontier had.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? Rule enforcement and maybe occasional admin events. I would find myself watching replays (even tough the system is buggy time to time) from player reports. I personally would guide RPers on the right track on salamander. I also like helping people in sticky situations when the game decides to do something funny. Also I find myself reading ban appeals, I find them interesting

What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Handing out harsh punishments to people, I would feel guilty banning someone for infractions and overall just banning people(not if they are a raider or someone who keeps ruining the roleplay experience for others). And watching replays because the system is buggy sometimes.

Detail Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

I believe that game admins keep up the integrity of a round, their role to answer ahelps and guide players on the right track for the best possible experience. Admins can also do events when rounds get boring or they just need some spicing.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

Honestly I love this game and its mechanics, I have alot to learn and I believe I would be a good ss14 admin. Also this game is different, the people are amazing and I love this community as a whole.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

Shattered, I’ve seem many new people which is good, but they like play to win. LRP servers are worse and I have seen occasional shitters and self-antagonists. What I have experienced salamander is fine, the rule breaks seem to be rare and the players usually play to have a nice roleplaying experience and not playing to win.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Creating events and talking to players to guide them for the best. Even some punishments can help players to read the rules again and improve on their roleplaying capabilities.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

I have not had bad experience with wizden admins.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Yes! I remember being a deathsquad member once, the whole round was super chaotic and we came there to kill everybody. Deathsquads are super rare and this was a once in a lifetime event that I got to experience with other players. And last but not least my interaction with Moony, I remember being punished for making phlog and I got flung into space inside a welded locker.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

I would ignore them, I hope that they would stop asking and get bored after a few minutes of following. If they continue on asking me to do something, I would mute them in deadchat and become invisible. Lets say I unmute them(if muting is possible even)and they immeadietly begin talking in deadchat about me to do something, I would definelty give them a warning and a note. If they keep doing this for the whole round I would give them a deserved temporary ban.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

My actions would depend on the context. Lets say that the Hos and Hop decided to coup against the captain for “fun”.

My actions would start by stopping them in their tracks and telling the that command fighting should never happend without a very good reason. Tell them that command fighting also disrupts the flow of antagonistic objectives, its hard to take out a captain or hos for their objective, because they are chasing someone at the same time in a group. Command the hos and hop to stop and return their unnecessary equipment back to security. If they insist in arresting the captain I would smite them for their actions and tell them that they will get punished for such actions.(roleban or a ban). Resolve the situation by either killing the hos and hop or sending a ERT squad to arrest them. (there would be CC announcement).

After either scenario I would contact the captain and Qm that they can return their respective duties. Also I would tell the captain not to roundstall, hiding with the nuke disk and 2 more objectives stalls syndicates in achieving their objectives. Also it could disrupt the round, because the captain is gone from the station hiding and qm isn’t helping other cargo techs in running cargo.

And finally tell the clown to peacefully return the sabre and that stealing high-value items is self-antagging. If they don’t I would give them a roleban from clown.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

In that case I would get to pick which punishment to hand out, acording to notes which the player has none I would give them a temporary gameban not a permament. I think that a permament gameban would be way too harsh for a first time offender. I would tell a headadmin what occured afterward when they are online.
