Hi!, I’m trying to learn how to host a server to maybe one day play with a group of friends, and since my ISP makes port forwarding impossible I’m forced to use a VPN service
I tried using serveo and sish, but i wasn’t having any luck, so if you could recommend a VPN service that works with SS14 (or better yet, tell me if i’ve been doing something wrong with any of the 2 i mentioned) I’d be really grateful
You will need a VPN service that is able to do both TCP and most importantly UDP protocols. The two services you listed seem to be unable to do UDP which is why you are seeing issues.
If you are fine with asking your friends to download software, you can ask them to download ZeroTier and create a network from their web panel and get your friends to join it (up to 10 devices on the free tier). Then your friends can input the zerotier ip address of the computer running the server to join from the launcher.
This will basically be like you are all connecting your pc to one Local LAN network. It should work wonders.
