Round start visitor status makes no sense

  • IC, Nanotrasen already filters out somewhere in space filters out spaceships and gives all of them visitor status I guess for the entire sector. Stations are not informed of that fact, why would they, when ships don’t specify to which station they fly. But then why would NT grant someone visitor status, if they don’t even want to say where they want to fly to, isn’t that space theirs and doesn’t it contains corporate assets?
  • IC, Nanotrasen by default gives all their employees visitor status for the entire space sector they work in. All visitors are actually employees that are off work, and they arrived on their private shuttles. I guess not everyone working for NT is in debt, but having funds for private space shuttle should be no joke. Also, that doesn’t really make too much sense, if everyone is brought onto the station by arrivals shuttle from the terminal and we assume autopilots to park your ship somewhere in space are a thing.

so now in case of lone operatives, wizards:

  • IC, NT only knows something entered their region of space - shuttle/ship announcement - but nobody cares enough to check what this shuttle actually is. But, this would invalidate the first point about NT keeping track of all incoming and outgoing spaceships.
  • IC, hostile factions shuttles have stealth mechanisms built in, it cannot be checked what type of shuttle has entered the space. Only thing known is unidentified space shuttle just arrived near the station, and the response is just normal announcement?

Anyway, I don’t see a IC reason why would all crew aligned ghost roles from shuttles get a visitor ID, making them crew on the station. If they didn’t had visitor ID, in my head, they would be foreign invaders if they were to be found near the station without any invitation, or approval for docking.

Possible rule/gameplay causes:

  • players that took ghost role should not have to ask for permission someone on board to play the game, especially when they are not antag, and cant just illegally board the station. - I believe its command issue if they cant organize some checkpoint on the station to search all incoming people. Also, most of skeletons (free agent but still I believe their starts are very similar, they start “friendly” to not get killed) have to break out/be let out from some location without ID, and go ask for HOP for a new one.
  • if not all crew of the shuttle got picked by observing players, there might be a risk of crew mistreating that inactive ghostrole - I believe it is banable offense, and stuff, but still it could happen more often then.

Most possible mechanic causes:

  • game doesn’t support yet station specific jobs/accesses. Though, as mainstream is played on single station (excluding admemes that could spawn another station), it just removes all capitan/other shuttle with some sort of crew hierarchy form the pool.

Now, in case all crew aligned non antagonistic, nor free agent shuttle ghost roles were to spawn without granted crewmanship status (granted by visitor ID), they would have to at least make their presence known to somebody before boarding the station, encouraging RP with rare setting of somebody arriving due to some other circumstances than NT work.

In other words, only Nanotrasen officials should arrive onboard with valid crewmanship status. Others should give HOP some work to do.
