Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you’re aware of in mind, answer the following two questions.
What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? I intend to enforce the in game rules and policies so people who play on Wizard Den servers won’t have to deal with constant rule breakers such as self-managing
What are you least interested in doing as an admin? If I’m being honest, I don’t really know what I would be least interested in doing. I find it intresting to observe players, let them know if they did something wrong.
_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can better understand how you’d approach adminning. _
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
Game admins serve as both enforcers of rules and facilitators of positive player experiences. They create a welcoming, fair, and engaging environment where players can enjoy the game.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
Because I want to provide the same experience I was given to other players. In my time of playing ss14, I always had an admin or mod be able to help me out. In some cases they would do an admeme which was fun for the server. And I really want to follow in their footsteps.
How do you feel about the current role-play status on the servers?
It is great as of now. I feel everyone plays their part. Even lawyers, I love those guys in role plays because the courtroom battles are really fun. Grey tides will also sometimes role-play, like helping out at the bar or just hanging out as usual. So in short. I feel the current role-play is great.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
Other than banning players I believe an action that would have the biggest impact is Player education. I would educate the rule violater or player about the rules, and workings so they could learn from the mistake and not make it as often
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
I have never had a negative experience with a game admin.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
I have had several good experiences, such as with Tom_Cruise Well atleast it was good to me. often times when I die, I tell tom funny storys that i think he enjoys. such as an incident when i was a new Atmos and walked into a plasma chamber without internals. Or the time I put a clown in a zoo. This were fun times I had with cruize I liked sharing my storys with him
The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
In this scenario, my primary role as an administrator is to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all players while upholding the server’s rules and policies. I would respond to the observing players by stating that as an admin, my primary responsibility is to maintain a fair and balanced gaming environment. I would kindly inform them that I cannot take actions that would disrupt the integrity of the round or unfairly advantage any group of players, even if it’s for amusement. My goal would be to educate the observing players about the importance of fairness and adherence to the server’s rules. If the players persist in asking for something funny or if they attempt to interfere with the round in a disruptive manner, I would monitor their behavior closely. If they engage in rule violations or disruptive actions, I would take appropriate admin actions, such as warnings or temporary bans, to maintain order and fairness on the server.
You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective.
In this scenario, there are clear rule violations and potential issues that need to be addressed promptly to maintain a balanced and enjoyable game environment. The clown’s actions: I would first investigate the situation by reviewing logs and speaking with the clown privately to gather their perspective. If the clown was indeed vandalizing with offensive language, I would issue a warning or appropriate punishment, such as a temporary job ban or a short suspension, depending on the severity of the offense. The passenger’s actions: I would also investigate the passenger’s actions. If their actions were clearly disruptive or violent, I would take appropriate action, which might include a temporary ban or job ban if necessary. The secoff and detective’s actions: I would review the actions of the security officers involved. If their actions were excessive or violated server rules, I would address them accordingly. This might involve a warning, temporary suspension, or a discussion about appropriate conduct in the game. Communication: I would communicate with all parties involved privately, explaining the reasons for the actions taken and ensuring that they understand the server’s rules and expectations.
You and another admin have been adminning for around an hour. The rate of issues has been easily manageable due to having 2 admins. Neither of you have been talking in admin chat. You are using ahelp to warn a player for breaking a rule when the other admin joins the ahelp and confirms that it is against the rules, but that it’s fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round. You haven’t taken any other admin actions yet, such as applying a ban or writing a note.
I would respond to the other admin in the ahelp and express my concern about inconsistent rule enforcement. It’s crucial to maintain consistency to ensure fairness for all players. I would ask the other admin for their reasoning behind allowing the rule violation in this specific case. Discussion and agreement: If the other admin provides a valid reason for the exception, and it aligns with the server’s rules and policies, I would engage in a discussion to understand their perspective better. If we both agree that an exception is warranted, I would provide a clear and concise response to the player, explaining the exception and the reasons behind it. Consistency: If, after discussion, we determine that the rule violation should not be allowed, I would communicate this to the player, issue the warning, and ensure that we both apply the rules consistently moving forward. Admin notes: I would make a note of the situation in the admin log, documenting the decision and the reasons for it, to maintain transparency and consistency in case similar situations arise in the future.
