so, in ss14 currently, mothpeople can’t consume pills, which is i think meant to be either a downside or just some sort of quirk
is this acutally needed? after playing for a while I’m not sure that this adds much to the game, and if anything discorreges the use of pills as they don’t work on a… usually rather large amount of the crew.
i am aware the solution is to just drop the pill in water and give them that, but once you’ve dropped it in water why not just give the doctors the whole jug of chems instead of pills, they work on everyone and are instant if injected, instead of requiring one to wait a few seconds to digest it if it where a pill
maybe newmed will solve this by making every species be treated differently so it makes more sense, but right now I’m not sure if it adds enough to the game
honestly, i think the relative inconvenience of making pills (if you’re the type of chemist to store all your stuff in the chemmaster buffer. which is a lot of chemists, ime) combined with them often being slower than injections is enough of a discouragement already - you have to go out of your way to make something that’s usually not any better than what you’ve already been making. the fact that they’re also useless to a good chunk of the crew just adds to the problem.
the pill meta wasn’t good, but the no-pills-at-all meta is a bit boring too.
i might be misremembering what it was called - and i think it was before my time, so take this with a grain of salt since i’ve only heard about it from other people - but apparently making giant piles of pills for people to self-medicate with used to be a fairly widespread tactic, despite some admins exploding the piles.
i don’t know if this was before moths were added, but i wouldn’t be surprised if moths are part of why the pill piles fell out of favour. probably for the best.

The pill meta died with moths, since moths cant eat pills, and jugs, which serve a similar purpose to pill piles without the lag, and can have medicine directly injected, which is a faster way to metabolize then swallowing pills.
Moths are a really liked species as well.
Pills are cool but the cmo is going to scream at you if +25% of the station can’t get healthcare just because they can’t eat the damn pills.
Aren’t CMOs leading cause of crew not getting healthcare cause they keep EA everywhere and jugs being blown/stolen?
Does not seem like they care about well being of crew on average, if anything some of them will threaten to fire doctors that want minimum security measures in medbay, even on higher alert.
