I have seen many command and sec players using galoshes, sec glasses and magboots without justification lately. I decided to confront one of this persons and it ended up with me finding out at galoshes, sec glasses and magboots are not protected by either the space law or the server rules and the sec/command mains are abusing this loophole for powergame against antags and i am pretty sure this isn’t intended.
Pd: why is it always the “higher standards” roles at do this kind of shit…
The way I understand it, you can make Magboots on science after a research milestone have been reached, so magboots is in the clear for anybody to have and use. (Granted not to the detriment of the station, like stealing it from the EVA room for reasons except emergencies, if they make it at the autolathe, it’s fine [if it’s yellow magboots it’s most likely stolen for bad reasons])
However, galoshes is a bit of a gray area. IF and only IF janitor willingly gave them the galoshes, they’re in the clear. If the SEC or COMMAND stole it (exception is when the person is demoted, YMMV), it’s a AHelpable issue.
“Higher standards” in reality dont have any higher standards apart from occasionally taking the blame for someone elses bullshit or going to cryo without ahelping, ive never seen ANYONE get reprimanded for their “Higher standards”, especialy because everyone sticks to the exact letter of the law, despite the attempts to say “This is only a brief outline” or whatever, similarly to how wardens do their sentencings to the strict maximums, its an issue.
Yeah these roles should ACTUALLY be holded with high standards instead of just being important roles at have a few extra rules to follow.

Sci’s magboots are fair game only if sci gives them to you (sci usually only makes that kind of stuff for themselves (sometimes for sec too) so good luck with that). But every other item is really scummy to get them “legally” by asking for it when command doesn’t have a reason for have them ic most of the time (excluding secglasses for hos and magboots for ce of course). Galoshes are particularly bad because they are really limited and a important piece of gear at no jani should give away. Those boots basically work as legal noslips and command/sec walking around with those should ALWAYS be a big nono (there is a reason why galoshes were removed from jani vending machines not even a week after they were added there).
Normally protolathes become public access after a while, so unless it’s like pre-30 minutes, I’m raising my eyebrowss. If I’m playing moth captain I usually ask for the grav boots because grav boots as moth is fun.
YOU CAN ASK SCIENCE TO MAKE STUFF FOR YOU. IT’S LIKE THEIR JOB.

For example, if clown threw space lube in front of sec often, but again, janitor can’t work without it, so it’s gray to black area for sure.
