Length of ban: Indefinite
Ban Issue:
I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh

Vote Opt-Out: false

Events leading to the ban

Earlier in the round, pun-pun had been walked into security and deputized by a reptilian security officer, being played by myself. We did some minor roleplay, showing pun-pun the newly deputized cadet how to manage as a security officer lightheartedly between the LRP chaos. Later into said shift, pun-pun and a medic are directing another individual for a search for one reason or another.
Here, I am stopped and asked by the medic to assist in the search. The case is presented, between oohs-and-ahhhs from pun pun, that this guy admitted to being a thief. I noticed his name was something along the lines of, Steals-The-Stuff.
I didn’t take it seriously enough to want to search the guy over his name, so I wanted to engage in some beat-cop roleplay. I instructed pun-pun that lizardfolk have “more rights,” than the medic. Implicating him because of his lack of tail. The medic was indeed a human. Pun-pun turned on his baton, and I told him to run. He did so, and neither of us pursued. Someone shouted racism bad, at me. And I responded with “Racism good” while running else where to attend to what-ever was happening at said moment.
The round progressed as normal for Vulture and ended.
Through admin communication it was depicted similarly, although with confusion on my end.
Soon a conclusion had been reached that what I had said, and done was infact speciesm.
I agreed, and was summarily banned.

Reason the ban should be removed

I’m a particularly avid player on wizden servers. I don’t branch off anywhere else, and I really enjoy my time spent on wizden.
I understand, and by no means disagree with the rules set inplace in regards to speciesm. But I believe my sentence is particularly harsh for what happened. And at the very least, would like to see it reduced from indefinite status so that I may one day play again.
In interest of my own defense, I had simply forgotten about speciesm as a thing to be mindful of. It’s not a concept I’m particularly familiar with on the day to day basis; and in how-ever many days I’ve played on wizden servers I’ve only ever read the rules twice. It just didn’t click, I was having fun trying to roleplay and thought it would be an ICly likely trait for a future space-cop to exhibit.
I resent the idea that it’s implied that I would treat a player adversely because of their chosen character species.
I apologize for my loose grasp of the rules preceding this moment, but I do believe the ban-length is far to harsh. And I sincerely hope this has helped provide some transparency into my intention.
Thank you.

Alternate Accounts

Under normal circumstances it not possible for a zero tolerance to not be harsh by definition, just so you are aware, but it is possible to have the ban reduced by appeal, yes.

Do you want me to remake the appeal than?

No, just letting you know more information about how bans work.

This has been put to an admin discussion and vote of which we have come to the consensus to reduce the ban from indefinite to 3 weeks.

The reasons provided in the discussion for this decision were the following:

  • 2nd Chance
  • Still breaks the rule.
