Ban reason: “continuing to use improper character names after 2 warnings”
Length of ban: 10800 minutes
Events leading to the ban: I used to play as Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz after I made cringe inducing mistake as a cadet, while not exactly a character name but rather a fake one I could see why someone did not want it, changed it to Gargamel Chrabąszczowski, not aware of such character but admin said its related to smurphs and because of rule 1 I changed it again to Msciwoj, now im banned and I am 100% clueless as to what any part of my name could be seen as reference to something at that point. I have first name and last name like any human character should and its not related to anything than polish language which as far as im aware is not banned from names, there are plenty of names that are not english after all and I do not recall rules saying anything about that, just about following “common” naming convention.
Reason the ban should be removed: 1st time I used such name so I would not make embarassing mistake of taking my own generic randomly generated name as someone elses but its reasonable I had it changed, I had no intention of breaking rules with 2nd name but I followed admin instructions and changed it, 3rd time I get banned the very next round and I genuinely do not see why, if Msciwoj Chrabaszczowski is in any way related to anything famous please show me proof and ill gladly change it.
And just in case admin that issued the ban just assumed I was banging my head on keyboard and banned me on these grounds. First part of name is valid and perfectly fine on birth certificate. Chrabąszcz is cockchafer, add -owski and its also a valid last name.
I will not dispute this name being a valid name in real life, but for the purposes of the game it is incredibly hard to identify a name like this. It would be unfair to other players if they cannot reasonably type our your character name for any purpose, be that for documents or chat.
Granted, you were warned about this particular name style once. However by the second occurrence, the staff member before me was already exhausted with you, and I chose to remove you from the game to prevent further grief.

If tonguebender names are not okay despite not being in the rules I would have changed it to something much more tame right away but this was never brought as a point ever or at very least I do not recall it. HoPs would always give me funny looks when my ID get stolen which is why I wanted to keep such name, for such IC interactions.
If anything I always viewed it as huge disadvantage as my name would stick out like sore thumb if I tried to impersonate someone. if you see it as powergaming of sorts I see no problem with changing it right away.
We will probably refine the rules a bit off this topic with relation to hard to say names, as it just puts mental overhead on the RP/gameplay fumbling to write someone’s tongue twister name out.
Just try to keep the name simple for us English speakers or use the random name generator in future.
Appeal accepted - Ban removed.
To enable speedy review of all appeals, appeals that meet certain requirements may bypass the standard, often lengthy, review process. Our banning policy requires appeals which are denied using the speedy review process have this notice placed on them. Any of the following criteria typically make an appeal eligible for the speedy review process:
the ban length is less than or equal to 14 days,
the appeal is older than 7 days, or
the result of the appeal is obvious.
In some cases, the banning admin may process the appeal. The banning admin cannot process the appeal if:
the facts that led to the ban are disputed,
the appeal makes a claim that the admin who placed it was biased, or
the ban was not within the ban guidelines.
You may contact a head game admin if you believe this appeal was handled improperly, but should be aware that this will typically only result in a review of the processing of the appeal itself, with the appeal being re-opened if an issue is found. An appeal is considered to have been processed improperly if the criteria to use the speedy review process was not met, or if the facts which the processing admin relied on to process the appeal were incorrect. You must concisely describe why you believe the appeal was handled improperly. If no issue is found with the processing of the appeal, the appeal itself will not be re-reviewed. If, in bad faith, you claim that an appeal was handled improperly, the reviewing head admin may decide to extend the time you must wait before you appeal and/or extend your ban duration. You can find a full list of staff, including head game admins at the staff directory.
