Detail Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
ensuring a healthy game state by enforcing rules, monitoring potential hotspots for trouble, running events and special rounds to create prevent a sense of server staleness,
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
to increase admin presence during off-peak Australian hours, to help a game and community i like stay healthy and alive
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
on LRP some players act like there is simply no roleplay, while there is a healthy amount of characters with higher levels of RP to help make up for it.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
assisting players with in-game problems that are resulting from bugs or unintentional reactions, answering admin related questions in the discord or other relevant spaces
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
i don’t think i have had such an experience, to help others from experiencing such a thing i would participate in votes regarding on potentially problematic admin actions
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
i often find that asking for clarification in game threw a-help to be useful and help (my long term memory isn’t quite the best so specific instances are hard)
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
i would ignore them, if they continue to “encourage” me i might hide my ghost (i don’t actually know if i can do that), i would also try to keep an eye on ghost roles in the event that those players took those ghost roles to “do something funny” that would not be reasonable for that role to be doing
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
as in in-game action towards the HOS and HOP, I would send the station a message as Centcom stating that a coup of a Centcom backed captain may be ground for a Death Squad to be sent to the station to put down said coup, and that I recommend they use a more diplomatic avenue to voice their complaints, for an out-of-game action i would likely suggest a temporary role ban if this was their first offence, otherwise likely a permanent one.
I do not believe that the captain and quartermaster are rule-breaking in the event that they are only hiding from the clown and not otherwise deliberately stalling the round.
I would warn the clown for self-antagging, if they are a repeat offender or refuse to cease self-antaging i would consider a bwoink and potentially a role-ban
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
I would ask them to explain why they are suggesting a indefinite ban, continue with the temporary ban, if i find their reasoning solid i would suggest they take it up with some of the other admins for a consensus, if they are suggesting the ban for frivolous reasons I would refuse them and likely defer to a headmin about their behaviour at a later time
