Characters you play: Sophie Harding, Magdumps-the-tider

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 12-15

Days you are available to admin on: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.

How old are you? I am 18 years old.

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? I play on a fork called Trieste port fairly often, Most of my playtime comes from Wizard’s Den Lizard.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I have adminned on multiple Minecraft servers, unfortunately I do not have the means to prove my admin experience on the mentioned Minecraft servers. (Although one was named Aqua SMP) Other then Minecraft experience, no SS13/SS14 admin experience.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? I have been banned one time on Wizden, the ban reason was for metacommunicating with another player. However this was due to my lack of knowledge with SS14 and I deeply apologize.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? I am primarily looking forward to working with other admins to make the general experience better, that could be by using admemes, helping players report bugs, and stopping raiders.

I am also looking forward to reviewing and providing an answer to ban appeals, as I think I would find some ban appeals to be very interesting.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Probably going into replays to find out what happened to a greater extent. Although I am not against this. I will still do this if the situation requires it.

Detail Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

The admin’s main goal, is to keep the round going smoothly, that the antagonists are antagonizing, the crew is working together for a common goal, and keeping the roleplay level to what it should be. Admins also have a responsibility out of the game, while that might be reviewing round replays, and answering AHelps and admin questions.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

I believe I can bring a positive experience to Wizden servers, there has been multiple times where I have AHelped about a serious rule break only that no admins were online, now I alone would not be the solution, but I hope to be part of it. I also think that answering questions in #admin-questions is a fun and good thing to do even when I am not online in a server.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

Currently, throughout the time I’ve played on salamander, I have seen the roleplay of people gradually decrease, which is very sad to see, I love playing salamander and seeing the RP level decrease is just sad. I hope to be online in salamander often and when I am, I want to enforce the RP level. On the LRP side, I feel that a significant number of players self antag often, and I want to stop players from committing rule breaks whenever possible.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Other then banning players. The game admins are there to guide players, if that being a rule clarification, or a question on unfamiliar game mechanics. I have also seen Admemes are a way to bolster mood and morale among the players. I plan on making in-depth lore based Admemes to keep players excited to see what’s to come.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

In all my time of playing, I have not had a single bad experience with an admin. No shift I’ve played got me going “I hated every second of that and I am going to take a break from this game!”, Overall I have had mostly positive experiences with players in character and out of character. But mostly, I want most issues handled with no admin intervention, for example: If a crew-aligned player destroys the distro systems on purpose, I want security to handle the character, and I will handle the player.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Oh my gosh. The amount of amazing shifts I have had over the months is incredible, I’ve seen admemes that left me stunned with the effort that the admins put in, I’ve seen players teach me things about the game that I would have never found out without their help, the community is more then a bunch of people playing a space game, we are like a family, I felt inspired to unlock the Station A.I. role because someone taught me the mechanics. I would not even be able to name a number on good experiences I have had!

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

I would ignore them, I will disappear from ghosts being able to see me, I also wouldn’t want them to think that just because one admin “did something funny” that they can just ask every Aghost they see. The round would remain unaffected.

However, if before (or it could be during) we did a vote on an admeme. Only then I would consider doing something with admin intervention. But generally, I would just go invisible and carry on with my admin duties.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Firstly, I would AHelp the HoS and HoP to get a better feel for why they are deciding to coup the Captain. I would also ask them why did they take up arms instead of following procedure, if they have already taken action (For example gibbing them), I would be a bit harsher on them. Depends on the context of the scenario (For example the captain started a purge.), I would AHelp the Captain to see what their perspective an their story as to what occured. (If we are going on context to say that their was no command vote on this,) The quartermaster did nothing wrong, they are following orders and protecting the captain. As for the clown, I would make them return the saber, the fact that the Cap and QM are hiding because the clown has it implies that they are using it. I would also give them a ban for self antag if the scenario requires it.

(Summary) HoS, HoP. Question them, find out exactly why and who approved of the coup, if their answer is on the lines of “fur the lulz dude!” or “There was no direct reason.” I would give them both a command ban.

Cap, depends on what they have done, if the Captain is innocent and the HoS and HoP instilled the coup for a bad reason, no major action has to be taken with the captain. However if the Captain did something coup worthy I would look into a command/gameban.

QM, Largely no action must be taken, the QM is doing the job to protect and follow orders from the captain if justified IC.

Clown, I would make them return the saber, possibly ban them for self antag because of the trouble they may have caused, the players Admin Remarks would also factor a role in a possible gameban.

Overall, I would look into the Notes, Warning (Admin Remarks) of each player involved, I would ask broad open question, and get a feel for the scenario like I was there living it.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

This scenario heavily relies on what rule they have broken, if it is a rule like Erotic Roleplay (No tolerance) I would give them an appeal only ban and make them appeal via the forums. If I am playing the role of a propermin, I would choose what fits best the situation, all admins in this scenario are equally ranked (If we are assuming I am a propermin during this time) so I would do what I feel is best.
