Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?
I do not in either 13/14, Though I do have 1000+hrs as a Darkrp Moderator on TitsRP (Shameful and possibly not relevant I know) But if you wish to know more, I can provide details.
Have you been banned from our game servers or SS13 servers before? [No]
Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning.
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
To Moderate rounds, Mentor players that need help, make sure the rules are enforced and nothing untoward happens and other than that I suppose keep things interesting when times are right.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the server?
Depends what server but thus far Lizard is pretty good, crew generally RP and most of the time the chain of command works in tandem with the crew to keep the station running and round going, Salamander is also the same. (All Wizden servers are the same in that regard) .
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
To be honest it’s one of the best games I’ve had the pleasure of playing in a long time, the staff are helpful and kind also when I first joined the players taught me about the various jobs and how they work, the experience just keeps getting better and there is never a dull moment while playing, in general just a really great atmosphere, and I wish contribute greatly to help those in need as has been done for myself.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
For me personally I think that noninterference is key and most issues can be solved IC, and if not then liaise with players to come to a suitable resolution depending on the scenario.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
Nothing noteworthy that I can recall other than the classic “Icky in my Ocky”
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
Ive had quite a few great interactions such as, Being mentored about ingame mechanics and items I’m unsure about, being haunted in a playful manner (windows being knocked/doors closing), Engi Spess God fixing bugged Equipment, Gettings stranded in spess with another crewmate and then having Spess Gods help us with “Mini station”.
The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. A chaplain prays to you “Give me a task my lord”.
I would do one of two things, Wait half an hour and if no antags have been rolled “My Disciple your orders are as followed”…ect and give them an antag role, or Give them an interesting object and some lore with the task of “spreading the word” (Something possibly harmless for them to RP with).
You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals.
I see that mainly as an IC issue and wouldn’t intervene though if I were to get an Ahelp from the Secoff with a complaint of said interaction then I’d intervene and warn the passenger for (FRP?) and tell them that was not within your job set or possibly tell the Secoff to handle it IC. (My choices would be affected by the context and possibly player attitude)
You log in to handle an ahelp that came in while nobody was online about “self-antag” activity. The player being reported as self-antagging was being a problem and could be considered acting outside of the rules, but they are no longer online and cannot be contacted about their behavior. While outside of the rules, the infractions are minor and would not normally result in more than a warning in most cases.
The most sensible course of action would be to see if there were any other staff online at the time and hope that they can provide me with more information if not ill inform the player that its being dealt with, in the meantime continue as normal and monitor the round as the actions were minor in nature.
(I’m not completely sure what admin tools are at my disposal in SS14 but I’m willing to learn for the betterment of Wizden servers, I hope I can be apart of your team) Thank you for reading my application.
Kind Regards. Tom Cruize
