For example, I stole a duffel bag full of chems but I never tried to kill anyone, I just took it and the CMO chased me and asked if that duffel bag was the one they had in Medbay, I didn’t want to be checked by the CMO and he chased me all over the place until he used a crowbar to kill me.
That is a ground to jail the CMO for murder?
Just like he obviously had me thrown in jail for stealing a duffel bag.
Well as a guy who’s played security for a while and one who gives zero fucks, I’d arrest a head even for the smallest of crimes, they stole? two minutes, they kidnap? five to seven. They murder? ten to fifteen. [Heads should never murder, except for captain and Hos, but that also depends on how it happened if it was just a RDM, that’s prison time, but if the person they murdered was like a syndie or self-antag its all good. And of course any head that man slaughtered in self-defense, that’s perfectly fine.]
Command, and I mean all command are just like us, they are required to follow space law, if they don’t its security’s job to arrest them and it’s CC’s or NT’s job to punish and fire them.
Also when I say ill arrest a head for any crime I literally meant it, I once arrested the CMO for assaulting a guy multiple times, the warden [who had experience] agreed on arresting him, but Hos and Cap were like: No you can’t do that, its CMO he’s command and bullshit like that, I’m just saying, if you see that security isn’t doing its job via arresting criminals complain to cap that Hos has become a Head of Shitsec, and if Cap gives no fucks, Ahelp it and you might witness a code Epsilon, and you can watch as you and command die by the hands of Deathsquad.
In your case it seems like CMO was just defending what was theirs/their departments + they hit you with the escalation rule.
At most they can crit you for stealing from their department if it had to end up at that point, especially if they asked and know you stole. They can’t murder you though for this and of course should’ve dragged you to sec while crit. The other side of this is they can just tell security to deal with it, but if secs busy or too small then yea you’re probably gonna feel CMO/med teams wrath.
Any circumstances.
People are too afraid to understand that noone, not even the captain, is above spacelaw.
People call me shitsec for it but I actively will arrest command members and even fellow security officers for breaking spacelaw.
The captain CAN allow things like minor/major (not syndicate) contraband usage on a case by case basis. They can also make new laws, within reason.
Anything else is set in stone and should be enforced as equality as you would a tider.
CMO beat you to crit for theft? Bet you and the CMO can talk it out through the reinforced wall between your two cells.
Yes, also being HoS I have arrested Heads for things like that, but usually many secoffs or detectives don’t do it.
But as I don’t like to play HoS anymore I have seen that in general other HoS don’t do anything in these situations.
I have never called an Epsilon code but I will certainly try it one of these days as in one game another CMO injected me with his Hypopen with Napalm and that is an assassination attempt, I used ahelp because of that, but I kept seeing the same CMO round after round.
Sure it’s understandable, but IC I can lie to him that that duffel bag was mine or that I got it from somewhere else and no one saw me steal it, only he stared at me for several minutes while I was SSD, playing music on YT, then I saw he started talking to me and asking me about the duffel bag to which I replied that it was mine, and he wanted to snatch it out of my hands, so I ran until he started killing me for just running.
Maybe I wasn’t too interested in that interaction but that’s what made me wonder if that action was punishable by space law.
Exactly, I feel the same way, because that’s how I learned it on Lizard and Leviathan’s server, that you can lock them both up for their respective lack of space law.
In that round I asked the detective to also lock up the CMO but he only told me that I was locked up for thief, but the CMO wasn’t going down for murder.
And well, usually there are no lawyers to attend me or it is rare that even if there is a lawyer he really gets down to his work
That occasion I was a chemist and I spent my time outside the chems department, but the CMO seemed like he didn’t quite know how to do any chems and asked me to make some, I did 3 basic chems to cure and left, so obviously the CMO was going to be pissed I guess.
But he decided to use his hypopen with napalm on me and try to kill me instead of firing me.
I never hit him or any shit like that, I just ignored him the whole time.
Recently had CMO gibbing and round removing revivable people by selling their brains in cargo, not ssd/cata of course. Sec and command did not really care so they went along with demoting me from doctor to passenger for reporting capital crime and taking brains to sci so they can at least be borged.
Can only hope some admin gets to the ahelp eventually.
Tbh, that napalm injection wouldn’t really do anything, but trying to napalm someone, at least to me should be considered as a Prevention of Revival, because if there’s no one or no way you could put yourself out, your either going to get ashed or the doc’s wont want to waste all of they’re medical mesh and ointment on your 370 fire dmg ass. Fire is no joke, they thought all of us that in kindergarten
Oh then no they didn’t have a right to try n murder you.
All this thread is doing is making me ponder if I should try being a CMO main again. I haven’t seen the best CMOs lately myself as my other roles or even spectating rounds.
However… I was CMO once last night again and someone tried to gib me in morgue with a gun and minibomb with like 4-5 other people in morgue. They ended up critting themselves, gibbing a dead cata guy instead and I ended up alive on Evac. All they needed was my crew monitor and some other dude needed my hypo. I wasn’t a kill or maroon obj. Ended up with both those on Evac too and round end. Dude who tried that stuff then went SSD when caught. If it wasn’t for people like that I’d probably play command more.
If you have to arrest command staff for breaking space law (which I’m pretty sure all admins support), go for it, and then when you have time, Ahelp them too, so you don’t get bonked for it and we have context.
