Upgrade the functionality of HoS emergency orders

Posting this here because of a discussion in General for posterity.

Currently the HoS emergency orders are currently the most useless of “high value items” to the point that the HoS and most of security doesn’t care or notice if it goes missing.

I was suggesting that the box be changed into a device that still counts for the steal objective, but, also allow it to be opened with a doafter that sends a station alert. Have the box contain some fluff documentation, as well as the code for the current station nuke.

This would make the orders a more enticing target for syndicate agents as well as nuclear operatives, and potentially a RP last resort in zombie rounds.

Meh, with current rules it would absolutely be a terrible idea to put nuke codes in it. I would say it could set the alert level to red from anywhere, but that’s kinda lame. Not sure what else you could really put in a folder without just giving HOS a different steal objective instead, like a gun or something.

I’ve always felt like it should be a special objective from Nanotrasen for command to complete that they can only open and view when the station turns red. Like, “Produce 10 laser rifles and bring them to the evac shuttle” or something.

If the objective isn’t completed, the crew can at most only get a minor victory regardless of what happens with antags.

I have a lot of ideas for what could be in there. Here’s one: Envelope with an electronic lock that only opens on red alert, it contains a gun and a flask of whiskey.
Another idea is that instead of the pistol and whiskey, it contains a disk that allows sec to put a department under lockdown.

I don’t really agree. It would make it a steal target with impact though. The syndicate agent would still have to take down the captain, steal the disk, break into the vault and arm the nuke.

As for command, that’d be a bit more scrutinized but you still have legitimate RP uses to open pandoras box.

No, I mean it’s literally against the rules to set off the bomb unless they’re Nukies(as why its a terrible idea). Command can’t do it, at least without admin permission, which the admin can just give them the paper anyways.
