What if we have mid-round secret agents that are tasked with finding and eliminating syndicate agents before they complete their objectives

It’s kind of like the FBI or an undercover agent whose job is to infiltrate deep into the syndicate organization among syndicate agents.

It’s similar to an anti-antagonist antagonist but a mild version of the ERT. It could be a mid or late-round event where you’re a sleeper agent for CC, tasked with finding syndicate agents.

This spices up the game by pushing traitors to a deadline, requiring them to execute their objectives as soon as possible or plan strategically to act within a reasonable timeframe. Otherwise, the hunter becomes the hunted by the CC’s sleeper agent, who acts as a different form of terminator with the objective to hunt and validly kill traitors.

If you boil it down, it’s basically rock-paper-scissors:

  • Syndicates hunt the crew.
  • Crew avoid being killed by Syndicates.
  • Syndicates get valid-hunted by the CC’s secret agents.

What if we also make it our objective to protect the syndicate’s target and ensure they make it to the shuttle, BUT you must keep your identity hidden? There’s a rule where you can’t have or hire bodyguards to escort you, so the objective of keeping your identity hidden should prevent people from having bodyguards.

Feel free to add to this idea or modify my suggestion.

this was a actual antag in SS13, it was the infilitration agent antag which had access to all of the sydnicate’s tools, but it had no clear objective. The mission breifing told them to hunt down syndicate agents but dont get caught. It was a very interesting antagonist but got removed due to confusion with its lack of clear objectives and orientation relative to CC/nanotrasen.

Works better if the tendency for traitors to receive other traitors as kill/sabotage objectives is higher for later round antagonists. If you make them explicitly a traitor hunting protagonist/antagonist then their involvement with the station gets muddy. They pretty much just turn into a late round valid hunter, which should really be the collective job of Security and the station as a whole. Its more interesting if both parties are traitors as both parties do not want to risk being caught by the station.

I quite literally said that’s why they were removed… you just paraphrased my words and used them against me. If you are trying to recommend a improvement to the antagonist i think that you may want to phrase it differently.

I was replying to OP, not you. Try not to think that hard about it.
