I don’t like whitelists and think they are elitist, so I’m here to vent.
There’s yet another whitelist, this time for being allowed to post opinions on PRs. Giving it a few seconds of thought, I became confused about it in concept.
Anyone can make a github account, anyone can comment on any PR on github. On forum? There’s a whitelist asking you to fill out a rationale for your worthiness to comment. On the very same PRs.
Heya, the whitelist application for the Forum PR Review category is really just a spam prevention. We do not expect you to put in 20 minutes of effort for the whitelist. I’ve accepted requests that were just one sentence long.
Additionally the PR Review Topics were already being held previously, just on Discord instead of Discourse and only open to staff. Us using our own Forums is so that we can moderate better as GitHub has horrible moderation tools.
It’s also so that when soft-spam (So content that isn’t against Forum rules, but generally unwanted on PR Discussions) can be removed and the person can only be denied to PR Discussions, not all of the Forums.
