The first ever mod message I received, although just a simple warning, gave me a ton of anxiety. I stopped playing shortly after to calm down. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t find the bright red to be a good general color for something that could be a simple notice, makes people fear they’re banned or something.
That’s my thoughts, if you wish to take action, I would recommend different colors for different states. Red for everything causes unwanted fear, I would recommend a yellow. Thank you for reading.
I mean, i won’t tell you the bwoink doesn’t cause dread. But this is a bit extreme of a reaction?
It just means an admin is talking to you, if you have had bad experiences in other games i do not blame you, but staff here is usually very friendly.
It could be anything from clearing a misunderstanding to a simple “Hey, please do not do that”.
Even if you break a rule, explaining that you did not do it on purpose (as i do hope is the case) tends to be enough to smooth things over. Unless, of course, it is serious stuff (slurs, heavy self antag, etc).
The flashy aspect is to make sure people do not miss it amidst the chaos. Since ignoring an ahelp is a bannable offense.
personally i think its red cause you can Ahelp out or be Ahelped to. If your reaching out to Admin they want you to know it shouldn’t be used for trival matters but real rule breaks or help to make the round work (like if you accidently destory your engine as a space wizard like I did the other day)
But its imporant to remember that the amins are here to support and make sure we all play by the rules. as long as your not breaking the rules you’ll be okay. nearly all account action starts with an Ahelp message to determin if its a rule-break or if its a miss understanding.
I will agree that the sound effect of reciving an ahelp message is… alarming though.
For me it’s not the color, but the Bwoink jumpscare is real. The sound and it appearing right in the middle of the screen certainly gets the heart racing. But I understand that they want it to get people’s attention immediately.
Honestly, the admin screen itself kind of makes me nervous, even if the bwoink sound is silent and/or I’m not in trouble or anything, I still get a little nervous.
I hate when admins respond to my request with a bwoink sound. if you are just saying okay you do not need to bwoink me.
iirc they added an option to toggle the bwoink sound some time ago, on the admin’s end.
yes they did add it. but admins dont use it is the thing.
