How old are you? 23
Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Wizard’s Den servers, or any SS13 experience? I played TG back in 2016 but stopped later that year.
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)? I do not
Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers? I have not
Admins have the ability to perform various tasks which are not available to the average player. An incomplete list of these tasks is: in-game rule enforcement, in-game events, ban appeals, and out-of-game rule enforcement through things like replay/log reviews in response to player reports. With these, and any other tasks you’re aware of in mind, answer the following two questions.
What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin? to answer Ahelps when called and to resolve the situations that will entail, watch the round for rule breaks and administer warnings and punishments as needed, also doing events does sound fun.
What are you least interested in doing as an admin? Unsure.
_ Answer the following questions in detail, so we can get a better idea of how you’d approach adminning. _
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers? to be a mediator and a moderator, to watch and make sure people are enjoying themselves and are not breaking the rules.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
I want to be a part of the team that’s keeping this great game free of “shitters” and to ensure people are having a fun round.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
i mainly play on lizard but from what I notice, there are quite a few metagaming issues and power gaming issues on lizard, this is compounded by the fact it works as the “entry” for SS14 meaning almost every new player comes through lizard, this of course leads to more rule breaks then other servers.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
admin events but also, assisting in Ahelps and watching the round to ensure people are having a good round.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
it was early in my time playing on lizard. I was learning medical and I walked into maints under medical, just looking around, I see a cat locked in a glass cage, and i attempt to break them out, in the hope I can keep them safe. A mime heard me breaking down the glass, they walked around strangely, and I knew he was hostile the moment he walked past me. he walked out of the room… into a room I knew there was two doors in a hall, I never heard the second door so he never left I concerned and backed away into the door to get out of the room to get back to med, but as I got to the door. He rushed out with NorthStar gloves and attacked me, killing me (I was not a kill objective) he then gibbed me. he did this to about 5 other people.
so, what would I do about a maints slasher, well I would say rule 12 would be a good place to start, I would remind them to stay on task and to focus on their objectives and to not gib random people in maints, if it were to continue a kick, or even a temp ban may be warranted depending on if it’s their first offence. I would also ask those who are unrevivable if they wanted to be respawned if it didn’t conflict with any kill objectives and I would ask, they not remember anything that happened in maints.
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
I would say, that having a good round would mean the admins have done their job well, but if you mean events then my favorite event would have to be one of the Lethal company events, having just little things like a song and a few aliens to spice up a round is nice.
The following are scenarios, respond with how you would handle each as an administrator. Respond with the assumption that you are an administrator with full access to the admin tools, and that you have all the knowledge needed to use these tools. Respond in detail, explain the reasons behind decisions you make and describe any assumptions you are making. When you need to make an assumption, it is preferred for you to describe how differences in the assumption would affect your actions.
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I would see if there are another admins on at that moment and ask them if it’s cool if we do an event, if no then no event, if yes then i would hope we do something together and bounce ideas off each other for what to do for an event, of course a vote for an event for the crew to let them know some “funky stuff” may be afoot would be nice for the rest of the crew
You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective.
so, that seems like a great RP scenario, I would be unclear why the passenger intervened and I would ask the clown or the passenger what they meant to the other, if they are friends or not, if not I would ask the passenger why they did what they did, and simply ask they slip but try not antagonize sec if they are not an antag that shift, now the det. crit the passenger and it is unclear that they brought them to med to be healed, I will talk through both scenarios.
- they left them in maints to rot: I would talk to the det and ask why they did what they did and warn as needed maybe even give a temp role ban from sec, again punish as needed, the act of a “bwoink” may set them straight and a warning may be enough to fix their behavior, and for the passenger i would offer to revive them at low HP as if they had survived the attack so the RP could continue with added risk of a trial in court.
- they are dragged to med: I would first help them heal faster if I could easily do so, but the main priority will be talking to the det about their use of force, rule 20 and again as above i would warn and punish as needed depending on the reasoning they gave.
You and another admin have been adminning for around an hour. The rate of issues has been easily manageable due to having 2 admins. Neither of you have been talking in admin chat. You are using ahelp to warn a player for breaking a rule when the other admin joins the ahelp and confirms that it is against the rules, but that it’s fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round. You haven’t taken any other admin actions yet, such as applying a ban or writing a note.
ask for clarification as to what they mean by " but that it’s fine in this case and they can ignore the rule for the rest of the round" in a private chat as the person being warned does not see, there would have to be a good reason as to why one of the rules is being ignored for the round in question, and if needed ask another admin about what is going on in this round. it would also matter as to what rule is being broken if it’s something like rule 12 then I could not let it slide as it may be running the experience of other people in the round, but something more minor like rule 16 could be ok, as they may have an “antag token” and will be taking a ghost role that the other admin will spawn or something of that nature. I would simply ask I be kept in the loop about additional antags entering the round that are not part of the normal gameplay loop.
thank you for reading this application and I am more than willing to answer question about why I answered things someway, and I am more than willing to change how I answer if it is explained to me as to why.
