Nukies almost always buy Agent ID and No-Slips. Why not just give them those items for free, and enable a tiny bit more build diversity?
To expand on this, no-slips are not only a common purchase but a required one (unless you go mag boots). Going in without some sort of slip protection is not only a massive self nerf, but also a beginner trap. The only time you see nukies without slip protection is when either, they forget, they accidentally overspend, or theyre too new to realise.
I dont think any other item the nukies have to purchase is this vital and cheap. If we are happy giving them free bloodreds, pistols, jetpacks, ect, it does raise the question of why we dont provide slip-protection in some form too.
They do have slip protection though - magboots. Noslips just have the caveat of being less obvious, not needing to be toggled and not slowing you down.
If im wrong on this, ill remove what i said above, but dont nukies have combat boots instead of magboots?
They do spawn with combat boots, but Iâm pretty sure thereâs a few hardsuit lockers with the magboots. I might be wrong, in which case roast me on a high heat.
my condolences

I dont roast clowns, thats starting a war that i will loose
I spent 15 minutes looking to see if i could find a video where someone right clicked the pile before i remembered i could check like that, smh
Damn.
I know bloodred magboots are definitely a thing, although whether theyâre cheaper or not Iâm unsure since they also have jetpack functionality built in.
Bloodred Magboots are a purchase too like No-Slips. The thing is with those however, they work when grav is turned off and they function as a jetpack. I think thatâs plenty of utility to consider them a separate utility item. They cost double as much as No-Slips.
the agent spawns with a pair which is what you might be thinking of
If they get these items by default then their cost should be deducted from their points. If not, it would be a straight buff with only reasoning being: lol why not?
Iâm not saying they shouldnât get them by default. But the cost of these items is not insignificant and could result in an extra china lake (example, donât know the costs from top of my head) if they pooled the savings.
No, the reasoning is not âlol why notâ itâs âThey can spend more on actual strategies instead of buying the same items literally every single time.â
Build diversity is a good thing. The combined cost is 5 TC. Nukies spending 12% of their budget on the same items every single match is boring design. If its a concern of balance, there are other ways to nerf them, such as taking away the Viper.
I just think Nukie loadouts could benefit from being a bit more unique and 5 TC would go a long way.
As I said, itâs not that they shouldnât get those items (magboots/noslips + ID) at start, itâs that the 5 TC times amount of nukies is a really big buff to a team of antags. With a 4 nukie team, thatâs 20 TC that they donât need to spend in addition to getting free magboots/noslips + ID.
You think thatâs not much? Now double that since they are now at NET 40 TC, since not only they gained 20 TC of items, they have 20 TC free to spend on gear. Thatâs insane amount.
I dont think ID and no-slips should nessisarily be rolled into one idea. Slip protection is basically necessary, whereas agent ID is just well priced and useful. I dont know the buy rates, but since the nukie id microwave fix, Im pretty sure people have seen it as a lot less vital.
Nukies starting 40tc isnt a well calculated and spot on number. Its just a figure in the right range of ballance. If nukies always had ± a few tc, it wouldnt have made a gamebreaking difference and we could still find ourselves here.
The added 20tc would probably be in the âsomewhat influentialâ realm of things.
But that doubled on warops is not a bad thing, warops is a massive self nerf anyway.
This is a hot take, but I donât think nukeops should even get noslips and the agent ID.
Agent ID usually ends up causing cancerous strategies, like the asteroid ops that recently were nerfed (syndie IDs now always fry when microwaved).
Noslips are essential, but have 0 downside to using them besides the initial (basically free) costs and make bloodred magboots irrelevant.
bloodred mags have built-in jetpack. which makes navigating and choosing attack points VERY easy.
Nukeops also get at least 2 free jetpacks.
Nuclear operatives actually get nine free jet packs from the armory lockers in the utility room.
If some uplink item is so strong and useful that its an automatic pick, then imo it should rather be rebalanced, repriced, or the game design space around it altered to make it less mandatory; rather than just handing it out for free.
I am against it for the sake of balance and meta forming.
Like we once decided to go full murderbone without war. So instead of rushing the captain our mission was extinction 1st.
So we hit Engi to destroy power and most importantly grav.(thk god it was singulo). We quickily put a HV wire through the wall and on other side of wall was powersink in space.
We retreat into space and dont need to worry. Because you need power to make power. Powersink guaranteed something engi player call Power death loop(it is extremely hard to setup new power without cutting half of station away from power)
Ai does not exist without power. Then our plan was to hit med, but from opposite side of engi(since most of sec gonna be in engi). We hit med without much of issue since no comms.
Murderboning was going great until sentient arti said âHey flukie, watch thisâ and spawned a tesla and its eaten the nukeâŠ
And we were like
If we had free everything. It would not have been diversion ops. It would have been blitz or war. Facetank ops
Damn warops got so boring for crew. That if i am antag, i will spend everything on lobbying bundle and will buy hardsuits, smg`s and laser with all that money(after small RP moment with cap and QM. #Sponsored #DONKco).
Exception if i have assassination missions, maybe.
P.S. And no it`s not betrayal of sindicate. Sindicate is a bunch of enterprises with own interest against NT monopoly, they backstab each other as much as they hate NT cutting into their proffits
I have been bwoinked for helping nukies (escape alive and unrestrained.)(and helping when you have neither DAGD or escape is up to you)(DAGD just means nukies got a free team member)
