Should there be a forums relay on the discord?

Should we have a channel on the discord that makes feedback and bug topics easier to discover?

  • Relay TOPICS: All new posts opened in feedback/bugs would send a message to the channel.
  • Relay ALL POSTS: This may have the same issue github does, with many feedback messages flooding the channel.
  • Nothing: Do not relay the forums at all
  • Other: Leave a reply!

I like the idea, itd be cool.

Hell maybe having a relay for General and Off-Topic would be nice too.

Yeah, at least a relay between announcements, general and development to promote the use of the forum would be good (since this actually gets indexed by search engines it could help with answering development questions)

To the same discord channels or to new ones specifically to be relays?

Ya, I think searchability and openness is probably one of the biggest benefits of forums over discord for help topics. I can setup a relay for #help now.

The development categories might get changed around a bit so I’m not sure how to set that up right now (there is already a relay for Feedback and Feature Requests)

Same channels IMO

I would try out with the same channels at first so that people are aware of it and dont immediately mute the new channels, if it ends up being too spamey or another problem pops up we can make a new channel for all relays

ok I added relays from Help to #help and from General to Discord’s #general

Feature Requests is going to #feedback right now, but maybe people would want it to also go to #idea-guys

Development itself isn’t possible to create posts in right now, but if maintainers start using discourse regularly that’ll probably change or another category will be made and that should probably be relayed to #maintainers #contributors or #development

A post was split to a new topic: Split GitHub comments to their own discord relay channel
